For the thousands of commuters using Outer Ring Road
(ORR), Tuesday morning was a nightmare. Many of the underpasses on the
busy road were flooded. There was nearly three feet of water at many
underpasses.
Several motorists said they were stranded for as long as
three hours. With civic authorities unprepared to deal with the
situation, emergency services personnel were deputed to pump out the
water.
The BBMP had taken charge of the 62-km
circular route from the BDA barely a few months ago. This was the reason
given for the lack of preparedness.
Sheshadripuram Railway Bridge, Okalipura and Bannerghatta Road also saw huge traffic pile ups.
